All calculator outputs depend on the inputs you enter and on assumptions (constant returns, constant tax rates, no inflation adjustment unless stated, no fees, no surcharge above the modelled slabs, etc.). Small changes in assumptions can change results materially — especially over long horizons.

Tax and scheme rules

Tax calculators use the rules notified for the stated financial year. Rules can change by budget or notification. Small-savings rates (PPF, NSC, SSY, SCSS, MIS, KVP) are reset quarterly; EPF rates are declared annually. We state the rate period on each calculator; if a newer notification exists, the calculator may be temporarily out of date — the official notification always prevails.
